Uncle Ray's Patience and Bryan's High School Graduation

Created by acoito 11 years ago
I will never forget the year we (Uncle Jim, Aunt Lorraine, Michael, and Antoinette) went to visit Aunt Elsa, Uncle Ray, and family for Bryan's High School Graduation. The night before the graduation, Bryan asked Uncle Ray to borrow the Irvine Company truck. With love and patience, Uncle Ray allowed him to borrow the truck while telling Bryan "Don't embarrass me". I remember our parents talking among themselves and overhearing Uncle Ray say "I hope whatever he is doing he doesn't get arrested". Aunt Elsa laughed and they continued in their conversation. In the early morning, the phone rang, waking up the house. Bryan had been arrested with a lifeguard stand in the back of the Irvine Company truck. It involved a high school prank gone wrong. They (Bryan and his friends) got the stand in the truck but when the police came, they left Bryan holding the goods). Uncle Ray, with his calm composure, went to the police station. Later, Uncle Ray came home telling us what happened and saying he overheard the police saying "we have a big wig's son here". Later, after Bryan returned the lifeguard stand to the beach from which it was taken, he came home tired, and just in time to get ready for the graduation ceremonies. At the ceremony, when they called Bryan's name, everyone stood in a standing ovation knowing that Bryan got caught with the goods doing the senior prank. What was suppose to happen was that the Lifeguard stand #5 was suppose to be placed on top of the school building for all to see at the ceremonies. Instead, we have the memories of the senior prank that went bad. Through all of this, Uncle Ray kept his humor, wits, and patience....and he still showed his pride as Bryan received his high school diploma.
